In order to use a self-directed IRA to buy crypto, you have to set up a checkbook control LLC, inside the IRA.
Once done, you must set up a digital wallet so you can purchase crypto. After that, you can buy crypto from any of the existing crypto platforms that you like.
A cryptocurrency self-directed IRA is an investment account that holds cryptocurrencies inside the account.
It is a retirement account using your IRA to buy cryptocurrency.
It is a little different because in a real estate transaction, you don’t have to have an LLC. We can hold the real estate directly, but you can’t do that with your cryptocurrency.
In dealing with cryptocurrency investments, we cannot set up a wallet for our clients, because wallets are encrypted specifically for the user to protect their assets.
NuView does not have it’s own wallet. There are a lot of and more. We give our clients the flexibility of using the LLC to buy from whatever platform they want, otherwise, they’d have to buy directly through our own platform, which may limit their investment options. So having the LLC is for the clients’ best interest.
It is absolutely possible to create a self-directed IRA with cryptocurrency. Any type of IRA can hold cryptocurrency. Setting up a self-directed Roth IRA with cryptocurrency is done the same way a regular Roth IRA account is established.
The benefit of a Roth IRA is that the money in it grows tax free. People who use Roth IRAs want the tax-free growth, which is the big appeal. The Roth IRA for cryptocurrency works the same as any other IRA, but the money in it grows tax free, unlike a traditional IRA.
Cryptocurrency is traded through your LLC. The owner buys it and sells cryptocurrency under the desired platform of their choice.
The cryptocurrency is held in a digital wallet. If you wanted to go buy crypto today with your personal money, you would have to have a wallet to put the cryptocurrency in. The wallet could be likened to a bank account.
There are no rules – it just has to be held in a wallet. Much like precious metals, investors can’t hold the asset(s) personally.
NuView has been in business since 2003.
NuView is an educator by trade.
The company provides both live and prerecorded training opportunities on a regular basis, virtually as well as face-to- face, if circumstances permit.
Education is very important. We provide education.
Cryptocurrency has a huge appeal in the marketplace and is appreciating quickly. It is very popular among the Millennials and Gen-Xers.
However, it is not our job as the self-directed custodian to advise our clients on investments. Our job is to give our clients access to their money so they can invest it.
Education is important for all investors to safeguard their money.
NuView’s charges are as follows (currently):
• $50 to open the account
• $95 for NuView to fund the LLC
• Between $195 to $295 annually hold the LLC, depending on the value of the account. Costs to set up the LLC are independent.
An investor selects their IRA based on their income and long-term goals. An investor does not choose an IRA based on their investments. An individual’s income and long-term goals will help determine whether a Roth IRA or a traditional IRA is better for their situation.
We are self-directed custodians, so we don’t put investments in front of clients. NuView emphasizes education. However, we do not promote cryptocurrency any more than we promote real estate or private loans. Our goal at NuView is to educate customers on all the different asset classes that exist and then let the clients choose the ones that make the most sense for them.
We do not give advice or opinions. We are not attorneys, accountants or advisors. As a custodian, we would encourage you to seek legal or financial counsel if they had a lot of questions.
NuView is the best custodian for three reasons:
Longevity speaks to stability in the financial services world.
We have been around 18 years, and people want to do business with a stable company when they are investing money.
We provide our clients with education they can be smart about how a self- directed account works, but we are hands-off when it comes to investments.
Yes. We require it. You cannot buy crypto through an IRA without an LLC. It is mandatory. The LLC allows clients to have complete control over the investment platforms they select.
